Contact Lenses
At Duvall Advanced Family Eyecare we offer a wide range of contact lenses to meet each patient's unique needs, including specialized lenses for myopia control.
Your eye doctor will perform a contact lens evaluation to ensure that the lens fits your eye perfectly and that your vision is optimized.
If you are new to contact lenses we will schedule time for our trained staff to teach you how to install and remove your new lenses.
Here is a video of Dr Harrison walking through inserting and removing a contact lens. Watch it before your training so you know what to expect, and come back to it in the first few days of wearing your lenses if you need a refresher.
Certain conditions or impairments may mean that you are considered "Hard To Fit" for contact lenses. If you fall in this category your eye doctor will work with you to find the right match for your specific condition. Some reasons that you might be "Hard To Fit" include:
- Dry Eyes
- Astigmatism
- Keratoconus
- Pellucid Marginal Degeneration
- Post-LASIK or other refractive surgery
- Presbyopia (reduced near vision common in individuals aged 40 and over)
- Corneal Scarring
Some of the options your doctor may prescribe include:
Daily Disposable Contact lenses
These are convenient because they are worn once and then thrown away. You don't have to worry about daily cleaning or storage.
Toric Contact Lenses
These lenses are designed to correct astigmatism (an irregular curvature of the eye)
Multifocal/Bifocal Contact Lenses
These contact lenses are designed to offer a seamless transition from near-to-distance vision.
Rigid Gas Permeable Lenses
These lenses are made of silicone compounds that allow oxygen to pass through and reach the eye.
Orthokeratology Lenses
These are rigid gas-permeable contact lenses that are used to reshape the cornea and correct mild to moderate nearsightedness. These lenses are worn during sleep at night and removed in the morning.
Contact Lens Package Recycling
Did you know that contact lenses and their packaging are recyclable? However, if you put them in standard recycling bins they can get filtered out because they are so small, and still end up in the landfill.
Bring your used lenses and packaging into the office and we will safely recycle them for you.
Your old lenses and their packaging will be sent to a TerraCycle facility where they are separated and cleaned. The metal layers are recycled separately, but the lenses and plastic blister pack components are melted down and remade into other plastic products.
We accept all brands of contact lenses and their plastic/foil packs, however, please do NOT include any cardboard packaging. This can be recycled through your regular recycling service.
You do not need to clean the packaging or lenses prior to dropping them off at our office.
